Indika Kularatne

A Passionate Entrepreneur and the Managing Director of ITU Exotic Travels

Indika Kularatne is a dynamic professional with a strong background in banking and entrepreneurship. Despite not having prior experience in the travel and hospitality industry, he has always harboured a deep passion for tourism. His position as a Director of ITU Exotic Travels in Sri Lanka fulfils his long-held dream of contributing to the tourism sector.

Indika graduated from Curtin Business School-Perth in 2011, equipping himself with knowledge in finance and business management. He started his banking career in retail banking at the National Australia Bank (NAB) before moving to Westpac as a Small Business Manager. His exceptional performance in lending and wealth management earned him the Master Club Award three times. He later became a Mobile Lender for RAMS Australia, specialising in mortgage solutions and further expanding his expertise in financial services.

In 2007, Indika founded IPS Facility Services, a commercial and industrial cleaning company in Western Australia. His commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction has established IPS Facility Services as a trusted name in the industry. In 2022, he expanded his entrepreneurial portfolio by launching Oasis Ornamental Fish Export in Sri Lanka, catering to the growing international demand for high-quality ornamental fish. His adaptability and strategic thinking have positioned this venture as a promising business in the global market.

Indika’s passion for travel and tourism led him to co-found ITU Exotic Travels, where he serves as a director. Sri Lanka’s tourism industry plays a vital role in the economy, and Indika’s aims to leverage his business expertise to enhance the company’s operations and service offerings. His financial background enables him to implement sound strategies for sustainable growth, while his customer service skills help in forging strong industry partnerships. His vision is to position ITU Exotic Travels as a premier travel service provider, offering exceptional travel experiences to both local and international tourists. By combining his entrepreneurial mindset with his enthusiasm for travel, Indika is set to make a significant impact on the industry.

Thilak Seneviratne

Director – Business Development & Strategic Partnerships
A Visionary Leader in Travel and Tourism

Thilak Seneviratne, widely recognized in the photography industry as Thilak Sen or Thisen, has been a prominent figure for over four decades. His expertise, versatility, and artistic vision have led to collaborations with prestigious brands and organizations worldwide. Currently, Thilak has embarked on a new chapter in his illustrious career by joining ITU Exotic Travels as Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships, bringing his entrepreneurial mindset, global network, and passion for tourism to Sri Lanka's travel industry.

Thilak's journey began as a photojournalist, capturing defining moments with precision and creativity. His exceptional talent led him to work as the official photographer for SriLankan Airlines (formerly Air Lanka), luxury hotels, and global production agencies. His expertise spans multiple photography genres, including aerial, commercial, fashion, and event photography, making him a sought-after professional for high-profile projects.

In 1985, Thilak transitioned from journalism to entrepreneurship by establishing Thisen Fotografix and Art, a company that quickly became a leading name in photography. Over the years, he has worked with prestigious brands such as KeangNam, Mitsui, PEPSI, and Zeenat Aman Perfumes. Additionally, he served as the official photographer for Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe and Miss World, as well as Miss Tourism and Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World pageants for nearly 14 years. His work has not only shaped the industry but also set new standards in commercial and event photography.

Beyond his accomplishments in photography, Thilak has made significant strides as a business leader and entrepreneur. He was the Founder Director and CEO of Senevens International Ltd in Australia, a company that specialised in fibre technology, product development, branding, and creative solutions for environmental issues. Under his leadership, Senevens International Ltd built a strong reputation for innovation, strategic partnerships, and global outreach, reinforcing his ability to drive businesses toward success.

Thilak's connection to the hospitality and tourism industry runs deep. Coming from a family that managed restaurants, beer gardens, and catering businesses in major tourist destinations, he was exposed to international travelers, travel agents, and hospitality professionals from a young age. This early exposure provided valuable insights into travel dynamics, customer experiences, and international market expectations, paving the way for his transition into the tourism sector.

Recognizing Sri Lanka's potential as a world-class travel destination, Thilak viewed ITU Exotic Travels as the ideal platform to channel his expertise at a crucial time when the country is revitalizing its tourism economy. His ability to blend creativity with business acumen ensures that ITU Exotic Travels will deliver exceptional, tailor-made experiences that appeal to global travellers.

While successfully operating his photography business in Perth, Australia, Thilak has also taken on a mentorship role for the Departments of Child Protection and Education in Western Australia. His leadership skills, combined with his international exposure and ability to connect with diverse clientele, position him as a strategic force in ITU Exotic Travels' growth.

Upali Navindra Rajanetti

Director of Operations – ITU Exotic Travels

Upali Rajanetti is a seasoned professional in the travel trade with decades of experience in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. His extensive expertise in sales, marketing, and promotions has positioned him as a key player in the country’s tourism sector. As the Director of Operations at ITU Exotic Travels, he brings a wealth of knowledge, international exposure, and a deep understanding of both inbound and outbound travel markets. Originally from Mount Lavinia, one of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist destinations, Upali has been immersed in the hospitality and travel industry from a young age

Upali has spent over four decades in the travel and tourism sector, holding key roles in prominent travel companies in Sri Lanka. His career began at HEMTOURS (Pvt) Ltd, where he dedicated 20 years as the Sales & Marketing Manager. He then transitioned to HERITAGE EXPEDICIONES (Pvt) Ltd, where he served as the Manager of Promotions for 23 years, specializing in FIT (Free Independent Travelers) and GIT (Group Inclusive Tours) traffic from major international markets, including the USA, UK, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia, and India.

In addition to leisure travel, Upali has been a driving force in MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), a significant segment of the industry. His ability to successfully handle a broad range of clients from diverse markets such as the USA, UK, France, Cyprus, Israel, and India has made him a respected figure in the industry. His expertise in organizing tailor-made experiences, handling large-scale international events, and managing strategic partnerships has contributed significantly to Sri Lanka’s tourism growth over the years.

His career has taken him across the world, where he has participated in numerous international travel fairs, trade shows, and tourism promotional events. He has built a vast network of industry professionals, fostering strong connections with travel agencies, hospitality partners, and tourism boards through these global engagements. His deep knowledge of global travel trends and consumer preferences allows him to craft innovative strategies that enhance the traveller experience while boosting Sri Lanka’s appeal as a premier destination.

At ITU Exotic Travels, Upali’s role as Director of Operations will be instrumental in ensuring seamless execution of travel services, optimizing operational efficiency, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
